Prepare for a Successful Start to Sponsorship

BVOR sponsors, get ready to welcome the refugees you've sponsored!
Join us on Wednesday, October 23 from 2 to 3:30 pm to learn about:

  *   calculating a budget
  *   understanding and accessing RAP support
  *   planning for the first few days and weeks after arrival
  *   connecting to settlement support and other local resources
  *   communication before and after arrival
  *   keeping records of sponsorship support
This webinar will also be helpful to people who are getting ready to sponsor through the BVOR program but have not yet been matched with a refugee family.

Join us for a special virtual briefing organized by UNHCR Canada<https://www.unhcr.ca/> and hosted by the Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP).<https://www.rstp.ca/en/>
During this 1 hour session, we will hear first-hand accounts from UNHCR staff from the region as they give us a brief overview of the current context of the area and provide insight into ongoing operations on the grounds.

This event is not publicly advertised, please only share it with individuals who are active in the refugee, resettlement and settlement spaces, sponsors included. Registration is required.

Introducing our new series of short, practical training sessions designed to get you ready to match with a BVOR refugee or refugee family in urgent need of sponsorship.

Ready Set Match #1: Building a Strong Sponsorship Group

A successful sponsorship begins with someone - just like you - who wants to welcome refugees into their community and help them thrive. But you can't do it alone. Join us as we share practical guidance and resources on how to find like-minded people and build a strong sponsorship group together.
In this training session, you'll learn about:

  *   The different types of sponsorship groups
  *   Group structures and roles of group members
  *   How to find people to join your group
  *   How to work together effectively as a group
Thursday, November 7 at 7 pm EST
Format: a 30-minute webinar followed by an optional Q&A , plus pdf resources
