Matching Deadline Extended
The matching deadline for the current batch of BVOR cases has been extended to Tuesday October 15, 2024!

Available cases range in size from a single person to a family of 6, and come from a variety of countries of origin: Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, Syria, Burma (Myanmar), Afghanistan, Iran, Eritrea and Nigeria. Give them a warm welcome and provide a knowledgeable and supportive community to soften their landing.

Financial Literacy Webinar with CRA and Service Canada

Join us October 11th at 1 pm EDT for a special webinar held in collaboration with the Canada Revenue Agency and Service Canada and learn about the financial programs, benefits and credits available to sponsored refugees.

Service Canada will review:

  *   programs available to newcomers
  *   benefits available to newcomers
The CRA will discuss:

  *   their benefits available to newcomers
  *   their credits available to newcomers
  *   and provide clarification on which benefit programs apply (and which don’t apply) to former refugees/sponsored newcomers.
This session is suitable for BVOR and PSR sponsors.

Prepare for a Successful Start to Sponsorship

BVOR sponsors, get ready to welcome the refugees you've sponsored!
Join us on Wednesday, October 23 from 2 to 3:30 pm to learn about:

  *   calculating a budget
  *   understanding and accessing RAP support
  *   planning for the first few days and weeks after arrival
  *   connecting to settlement support and other local resources
  *   communication before and after arrival
  *   keeping records of sponsorship support
This webinar will also be helpful to people who are getting ready to sponsor through the BVOR program but have not yet been matched with a refugee family.
