We would like to remind everyone about the schedule for the RSTP monthly webinar series in July 2024.



The series consists of 7 live interactive webinars covering various stages in the PSR program from understanding the eligibility criteria for sponsors and applicants, to preparing a successful application, submitting it via PR Portal, welcoming newcomers, and concluding a sponsorship period. This series is offered on a monthly basis.



Below please find the schedule for July 2024:

1 - Before You Apply to Sponsor

Follow Aliya and learn about sponsorship while she finds out: who is eligible to be sponsored, who can be a sponsor, the cost of sponsorship, and an overview of the application process.

2 - Preparing a Settlement Plan

Continue to learn with Aliya's sponsorship group as they figure out why the settlement plan is central to the application, how to calculate the application budget, where to find the application guide and how to read it with ease. And let's not forget, contingency planning!

 3 - Preparing a Successful Application

 4 - Applying Online - The PR Digital Portal

Our case study group has prepared their application materials. Now they are looking to navigate the new online application portal. Join with our example sponsorship group as they find out how to get into the PR Portal, the difference between a Primary Sponsor and a Principal Applicant, what documents they need to upload, and the importance of reviewing their application before hitting the submit button!

 5 - Preparing for Arrival and Orientation

Hooray! Aliya's brother and his family are due to arrive! Follow along with Aliya and the Group of Five as they make sure they have everything ready to welcome and give orientation to Samuel, Estelle and their 2 children. This interactive webinar will provide a recap of sponsors' settlement responsibilities; review ethical considerations that are important to keep in mind when sponsoring refugees; the power imbalance that exists in the sponsor-sponsored newcomer relationship and tips on how to mitigate the imbalance; and the importance of managing expectations.
