Dear all,

The Neighborhood Group (TNG) Community Services, in collaboration with RSTP, is excited to announce that it is leading an IRCC-funded project to provide conflict resolution training and coaching to refugee sponsors.

The project intends to train sponsors to manage complex issues and conflicts as well as receive immediate support, mediation and coaching from trained mediators, with the overall aim of reducing sponsorship breakdowns.

Please see the attached flyer for details of the upcoming two-part training sessions. The first part will cover the following main topics, Cultural Consideration, Managing Bias in conflict, Conflict Sources, Conflict De-escalation, Active Listing and Setting Boundaries and the second part will involve interactive roleplays.

The sessions will be repeated throughout the year.

To learn more about the project, please contact Rola Mustafa at TNG Community Services at: refugeesponsor at tngcs.

Also, please see the below message from TNG:

“Attending this session will give you access to the following benefits and services;

Gaining theoretical and practical knowledge of conflict resolution
The sessions are full of exercises, role plays and discussion.
We will get to share experiences, thoughts, challenges, etc.

Conflict Resolution Coaching  Services
If you are undergoing, at the current moment, conflicts and you would like to access our pool of experience coaches, you definitely can, upon attending the first session.

We have experienced coaches who can help you gain increased competence and confidence to independently manage interpersonal disputes or to engage in ADR processes designed to assist you and the newcomers you service.

Mediation Services
We are currently training mediators to understand the dynamic of refugees’ – sponsor relationship so; our mediators can be fully ready to support you in peaceful dispute resolution.

Certificate of Attendance

A certificate of attendance upon completion of the two sessions. These sessions are offered by CRT at St. Stephen’s, which is part of The Neighbourhood Group. CRT has been providing alternative dispute resolution services and training since 1985. This is a very valuable certificate and it will add a great value to your resume.

Please share this invite with your staff and volunteers who constantly interact with sponsored refugees whether they are PSRs or GARs. They are most welcome to attend the session.

If you are not able to attend, please let us know at least a day in advance, as we will need to reassign roles within the groups. We are pre-assigning roles to each participant. One absence will dramatically impact the session.”
