Please find below a message from IRCC regarding Immigration loan.

The purpose of this message is to inform you of the following changes under the Immigration Loans Program that will come into effect as of September 1, 2021:


  *   The immigration loan cap per family will be raised to $15,000, from $10,000; and
  *   The service fee that the International Organization for Migration (IOM) applies to support the movement of refugees will increase from $240 to $300 per person.

These increases will ensure that the IOM can continue to deliver timely, quality services to refugees resettling to Canada. The IOM plays an essential role in helping Canada welcome refugees as the organization assists with pre-departure resettlement processing and  provides direct assistance to refugees to travel to Canada, including securing exit permits, coordinating transportation to the airport, booking flights and providing assistance during transit.
It is anticipated that the increase to the immigration loan cap will affect a limited number of refugees, as historically only 3% of loans for resettled refugees exceeded the former cap of $10,000. Resettled refugees facing hardships in repaying their loan can ask for a review to adjust their repayment arrangements. The loan is an agreement between IRCC and resettled refugees, and sponsoring groups are not responsible for covering the costs of the refugee's immigration loan.

Le présent message a pour but de vous informer des changements suivants dans le cadre du programme de prêts aux immigrants (PPI), qui entreront en vigueur le 1er septembre 2021 :

  *   Le plafond des prêts aux immigrants (par famille) passera de 10 000 $ à 15 000 $, et
  *   les frais de service que l'Organisation internationale pour les migrations (OIM) réclame pour soutenir le mouvement des réfugiés passeront de 240$ à 300$ dollars par personne.
Ces augmentations permettront à l'OIM de continuer à fournir des services opportuns et de qualité aux réfugiés qui se réinstallent au Canada. L'OIM joue un rôle essentiel pour aider le Canada à accueillir les réfugiés. En effet, l'organisation contribue au traitement des demandes de réinstallation avant le départ et fournit une aide directe aux réfugiés pour leur permettre de se rendre au Canada, notamment en obtenant des permis de sortie, en coordonnant le transport vers l'aéroport, en réservant des vols et en fournissant une assistance pendant le trajet.
On prévoit que l'augmentation du plafond des prêts aux immigrants touchera un nombre limité de réfugiés, car historiquement, seulement 3 % des prêts aux réfugiés réinstallés dépassaient l'ancien plafond de 10 000 $. Les réfugiés réinstallés qui éprouvent des difficultés à rembourser leur prêt peuvent demander une révision afin d'ajuster leurs modalités de remboursement. Le prêt est un accord entre IRCC et les réfugiés réinstallés, et les groupes de parrainage ne sont pas responsables de couvrir les coûts du prêt aux immigrants du réfugié.
