Hope you are all doing well in these times and keeping safe and healthy!

There are a few upcoming virtual training sessions in British Columbia within the next couple weeks that I would like to share with everyone. Feel free to sign up for all or a couple of them and please do not hesitate to circulate this email within your networks with anyone who may be interested. 1.       Overview of the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program (English)
Topic: This session will provide an in-depth look at the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program, including: an overview of Canada’s refugee sponsorship and resettlement programs; who can sponsor under the PSR program; the eligibility and admissibility requirements for refugees being sponsored under the PSR program; the importance of refugee status documents and who needs them; and, an overview of the application process.

2.       Calculations Matter! An Online Workshop for G5 & CSs Sponsors (English)
Topic: Are you calculating your G5 or CS sponsorship costs right?
This free workshop on calculating the sponsorship costs for Community Sponsors (CS) and Groups of Five (G5) will explore some of the complexities surrounding the minimum financial requirements which is one of the main reasons for G5/CS sponsorship applications to be returned/rejected by the IRCC. This is will be a workshop where participants will learn about their legal liability and obligations, and they will also have an opportunity to use case examples to learn how to do their calculations together in groups. RSTP will also provide helpful tips during the workshop to ensure a successful approval as G5/CS sponsors.

3.       How to Fill out Application Forms for G5 and CS Sponsors (English)
Topic: This session will provide an in-depth look at how to prepare applications to sponsor refugees under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program, including: how to complete the application forms (for Groups of Five, Community Sponsors and the refugees being sponsored); and, what supporting documents must be included with the application package in order to ensure that the application is complete.

Topic: This session will provide an in-depth look at how to submit a refugee sponsorship application under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program to the Resettlement Operations Centre – Ottawa (ROC-O) via email and when and how to update an application after submission.

8.       Sponsors' Responsibilities: Before & After Arrival (English)
Topic: This session webinar will provide an in-depth look at the financial and settlement responsibilities of sponsors under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program, including: how long sponsors are expected to provide financial support to refugees sponsored under the PSR program; situations that may change the amount of financial support that sponsors are expected to provide once the refugees arrive in Canada; and, an overview of sponsors’ settlement responsibilities under the program and how settlement agencies can assist sponsors with fulfilling their settlement responsibilities.

**** This session will be held in both languages, meaning questions will be answered in both English and French!***

-          English: Whether you are a new or experienced sponsor, this session is for you! You are welcome to attend and ask any pertinent questions related to the PSR program. This meeting will be entirely a Q&A session. Send in your questions to mndizeye at rstp.ca<mailto:mndizeye at rstp.ca> before midnight Wednesday 25th November. Live questions will also be accepted on the day of.
