I think before you take a decision to resign from an organization,you have to clear  all the engagements you signed as a member of that organization,and then you can submit your resignation letter to whom it concern.This is my points of view.Bahati

To resign properly from any board of directors you should deliver a written letter of resignation to the board secretary with a copy to the board chair and the most senior paid staff (executive director). Keep it short and sweet. The overly simple answer to your question about ongoing legal commitments is that directors are legally responsible for actions and decisions made while they were directors of the organization.
