To resign properly from any board of directors you should deliver a written letter of resignation to the board secretary with a copy to the board chair and the most senior paid staff (executive director). Keep it short and sweet. The overly simple answer to your question about ongoing legal commitments is that directors are legally responsible for actions and decisions made while they were directors of the organization. You should get your own legal advice if you are concerned about the SAHs actions and decisions.
