Dear List Members,

Please take note of the following recent and upcoming changes related to the
Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program:

* On May 13th, CIC posted new versions of the following forms
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/private.asp> :

o IMM5373A Settlement Plan & Financial Assessment form for Groups of Five

o   IMM5373B Financial Profile form for G5s

o   IMM 5437 Document Checklist

o   IMM5373 Undertaking/Application to Sponsor

o   IMM5413 Sponsorship Application Guide

*        There is a grace period for submitting older (i.e.: pre-May 13)
forms of 60 days (i.e.: until July 13, 2015)

*        The Add Dependent
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5618E.pdf>  form will be
phased out. This form was used when there was an addition to the family unit
such as a birth of a new baby or a marriage. Instead, the updated IMM5373
Sponsorship Undertaking form
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5373E.pdf>  will include a
check box on page 1 to identify additional dependant requests. It is still
the responsibility of the refugee applicant or their sponsors to notify the
visa office of any changes to the family configuration (births, deaths,
marriages). The CPO-W will then request the sponsors to submit a completed
IMM5373 Sponsorship Undertaking form
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5373E.pdf>  along with any
necessary supporting documents to CPO-W within 60 days.

o Old Add Dependent forms can still be submitted until July 13th (60 day
grace period)

*        One Year Window
(OYW): the IMM0008 Generic Application Form
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf>  must now be
to CPO-W together with the OYW request. Please note that they have to be
submitted to CPO-W within 1 year of the PA's arrival (landing) in Canada.
Once received by CPO-W, the visa office will be deemed to have received the
OYW request on the same day as received by CPO-W. A new form (IMM5571) and
updated guide (IMM5578) will be available on CIC website on/after May 25,

* The refugee applicant (PA) is encouraged to contact the visa office
directly concerning any updates in their case, however as this is not always
feasible, sponsors can also request or transmit information on behalf of the
refugee to the visa office but ONLY if the visa office has an IMM5476
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5476E.pdf>  Use of
Representative form
<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5476E.pdf>  on file.
Therefore, even though this form is optional, it is a good practice to
submit it at the time of submitting the application to the CPO-W.

* Updates in criminality screening for G5s: CIC might ask for group
member's police reference check if their system shows a concern when
assessing the group member (i.e.: not everyone will be asked).

*        Community Sponsor groups
<http://www.rstp.ca/en/refugee-sponsorship/community-sponsors/>  are no
longer limited to 2 PSR cases per year. As with G5s, these groups can now
submit as many as they can handle subject to their settlement and financial

* The average processing times for refugee sponsorship applications
have been updated (May 20th):
