Subject: CCR survey of overseas refusals of privately sponsored refugees

Dear List Members,

The CCR has designed an online survey specifically for refugee sponsors
(i.e.: Groups of Five, Community Sponsors, Sponsorship Agreement Holders and
their Constituent Groups), which is aimed at responding to concerns about
refusals of privately sponsored refugees overseas. If this applies to you,
please find more information below and respond by March 23rd.

This message is particularly for list members who are involved in the
private sponsorship of refugees.

The CCR has designed an online survey aimed at responding to concerns about
refusals of privately sponsored refugees overseas.

We are aware of a number of refugees who have been refused by Canadian visa
officers overseas, but had their refusal overturned when the sponsor was
able to take action (e.g. apply for judicial review). This suggests that
refusals are not always correct in law.

The results of this survey will provide a general impression of trends in
refusals and increase awareness about negative decisions and how they can be
addressed. Your participation will greatly contribute to the advocacy
efforts for fairer overseas decision-making and help to improve overseas
acceptance rates in the long run.

Please note that the CCR will not attribute the results to any specific
sponsoring group.

The survey is available here:
http://ccrweb.ca/en/survey-refusals-privately-sponsored-refugees

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey by Monday 23 March
2015.
